Visit the Cowichan Bay Maritime Center with your Class, Youth Group, or other community organization! Our cross-curricular programs engage learners and give them interactive, hands on and fun filled learning experiences!

Our fleet of wooden rowing boats, fully equipped woodworking shop, large facility with many interesting exhibits and possible lessons like navigation or knot tying hold many possible fun and immersive field trips.

  We are happy to work with classroom teachers or leaders of community groups to tailor programs towards your groups interests or the learning outcomes and goals.

Tour and Boatbuilding (recommended K - 5)

 In this exciting Maritime workshop student will get to taken on a tour of the museum where they can fill in a maritime scavenger hunt, after the tour students will get to build their own floatable toy boat!

Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes

Crabbing and Boatbuilding (recommended for grade 1 - 7)

During this workshop student’s the opportunity to catch, observe and learn to identify red rock and doneness crabs. They will also get the chance to build and decorate a floatable toy boat to take home

Cowichan Bays Historical Roots (Recommended for grade 3-7)

Learn all about how Cowichan Bay has changed over the years, and how we became the village we are today. We explore old photographs of Cowichan Bay and artifacts significant to Cowichan Bays History, look at the different ways the first nations thrived on the land, how fishing has impacted Cowichans development, and what it means to be Cittaslow.
